St George's Drive facade

 Location & Historic Value

The site - St. George’s Drive, is a Grade II listed building,  within the Pimlico Conservation Area. The property, a Thomas Cubbit - design is a five-storey stuccoed terraced house dates around 1850s. The property has been subdivided into residential flats. The grand dwelling house is part of a long symmetrical terrace, the building therefore architecturally significant through its contribution to the group value if St. George’s Drive. A newspaper article in 1877 described Pimlico or ‘South Belgravia’ as ‘genteel, sacred to professional men... not rich enough to luxuriate in Belgravia proper, but rich enough to live in private houses - for this is a retired suburb’.
